ALL ABOUT ME!

Me & Grandpa. Cute little screamer, wasn't I? Ah, well. Even then, I didn't like getting my picture taken. Okay, the REAL story is that I didn't like anyone holding me except for my mother or father. Poor Grandpa! But at least my parents didn't have to worry about me going off quietly with some stranger. I would have definitely sounded one loud, screaming alarm.

I was born and mostly raised in Oklahoma -- part of tornado alley (yes, I have been in a tornado or two; no, I didn't live in a trailer park; no, my house never got blown away). I've also lived in Georgia and Germany (army brat - though, I was never a brat, no matter what it looks like in the "grandpa pic" - LOL). And now, I live in Nevada.

I was a little girl cheerleader (rah, rah!). We were the Knights (the mighty, mighty Knights - LOL). Don't ask me what the "S" stands for. I don't remember.

Later, I took ballet and performed in a few dance recitals -- learned some tap and jazz and also how to dance on toe-shoes. I even got to dance on stage by myself for a moment, when the choreography called for me to come out first and cross the stage doing a few movements. Fun!

But somehow as an adult, I ended up with two left feet. Not sure what happened there. Hmm. Life has a sense of humor about it, for certain. Since I never was any good at the gymnastic part of cheerleading and ballet, my "career" in both those endeavors ended early.

My "middle" and "high school" years were fairly uneventful. No more cheerleading, no more ballet, no pep squad (do they still have pep squads?), no choir (ack! - you don't want me to sing), no band - I did take guitar lessons for a while, and I can sort of read easy music, and do simple tunes on a keyboard, but a musician I am not.

Let's see...oh, I was in the Drama Club for about 2 seconds. Not my thing (strange folks, I tell ya - no offense to any drama-types out there - LOL - you know who you are). I was in the Spanish Club and served as an officer in the Math Club.

I was a good girl, with good grades, who stayed out of trouble. Boring, huh? LOL Certainly, I MUST have done something wild and crazy. I can't think of anything though. If any of my high school friends are reading this, feel free to refresh my memory *smile*.

I do have a most embarrassing high school moment. Yeah, I see you leaning closer to the screen. Okay. I hurt my back, lugging around a massive typewriter. I was already writing back then, started in the 3rd grade (most writers I know seem to have started early in life; I wonder if that's the norm), but that's another story. Um, where was I?

Oh, yeah. I hurt my back, and I had to go to the hospital for some tests. So, I'm lying there naked on my stomach, no cover or anything, and this male tech comes in. I couldn't see him. He was behind me. First thing he says is, "Oh, don't you go to XYZ High School?" I answer tentatively, "yes." Then he says, "I live in the apartments right across the street, and I see you walking home."

Ugh!!! Can I crawl under the table now???? As a 16-year-old girl, this is NOT what I'm wanting to hear, while lying naked. At least I was face-down. LOL So, that's my story. What's yours?

Let's see. College is next. No wild stories here either, so don't rub your hands together in anticipation! I earned a degree in computer science and mathematics (double-major) and was on scholarship all 4 years. That was great financially. Graduated with honors. Worked part-time as a tutor at the college, and a math teacher at a local private school.

Hmmm. I must have done something more in college. Oh, I ran for Homecoming Queen. Didn't win (pee-shaw!). I worked on a float for the Pi Mu Epsilon Fraternity (we didn't have sororities, the college was too small), and rode with the float in the homecoming parade. I was an officer (Treasurer) in the fraternity. Participated in a couple of mathematics competitions. Didn't win (pee-shaw!).

Dated off and on. Sorry, no erotic stories to relate (or nothing I care to divulge anyway). LOL Met, but didn't date, who I consider my first REAL Alpha Male with a tender heart, who was my own age. We did have a few laughs. And I think we might even have gotten together, but everytime the opportunity arose, something got in the way. Ah, fate.

Graduate school came next. First time away from home in my own apartment. It was an experience in bugs! Ack!!!! I received an advanced degree in computer science, even completed a few doctoral hours, then decided I'd had enough. I worked at the university as a Statistical Clerk, Data Analyst, System Analyst, and Assistant Director of Institutional Research.

I went through some not such good times there, but I guess we can all relate to that. Everyone has stories. I won't be repeating mine here. Overall, compared to most people, I know I've had it easy. So, I'd rather focus on the good and funny times.

Oh, speaking of which, I have a sort of a funny story. You had to be there to get the entire effect, but I'll give relating it a try. I went out to dinner with this guy. We weren't dating, just friends. But it was just he and I, and after dinner, we went back to my apartment. We'd had quite a bit to eat, and I was FULL. I had on a dress with a belt and just casually undid the belt and stripped it off, so I could get a little relief. You should have seen the look on his face!!!! LOL I think he thought I was going to get naked. I would have loved to know exactly what his thoughts were at that moment, because his expression was priceless!

I worked at the university for several years after I earned my degree. Once I did leave, I still did consultation work, analysis, and website design for them. I did a little website design for others and finally ended up working for a publishing company as a TroubleShooting Manager, but I did a little bit of everything for them, until they went out of business.

Now, I'm happy to say that I'm writing full-time and I do have a small website business on the side.

So, how did I get started writing romance? It was actually the fault of my very best friend (waving!). Her sister had a dream. She decided to write it down as a story. And from there we started a writing group and penned "space operas" throughout our high school years and after. When I went off to graduate school, sometime after that, she and I got back together and started writing an historical romance together. I got so hooked that I started also writing my own stories. Many, many years later -- and lots of experiences along the way -- I had two non-erotic romances published (now out of print).

So how did I finally get into erotic romance? Well, read my article, "My First Time," for that. It's a fun story.
